Come to Larsen Bay Lodge for the fish, stay for the mighty Kodiak Brown Bear! These entertaining mammals are ALL OVER the rivers where we fish. They are focused on fishing and want nothing to do with people, so we get an incredible opportunity to view them in their natural habitat. No concrete paths or gift shops here. We encounter cute cubs with their mama’s, feisty and curious juveniles, grumpy old boars and every age in between.
We are proud of the gourmet dining at Larsen Bay Lodge. We ran out of Cookbooks this summer but happy to announce they are back in stock. Take home some ideas for how to prepare your halibut, crab, salmon, venison and more! Every recipe includes something harvested from Larsen Bay.
The salmon and the leaves are starting to change colors announcing the end of a successful summer fishing season. Thank you to all who joined us! Great crew, great fish and happy clients.
The silver salmon (aka Coho) fishery is on fire right now! Both saltwater and freshwater are limiting daily. Come see for yourself! Can’t forget those halibut, yellow eye and black bass too! Seafood chowder on the menu!
One of the primest white fish in the world! Lingers won’t win any beauty contests but is sure delicious! Lingcod is a Pacific species whose scientific name – Ophiodon elongatus– says it all. Its roots – the Greek ophis for snake, odons for tooth, and the Latin word elongatus or elongated – provides a fitting description for this odd-looking fish.
Say that ten times fast! 🙂 We are deep into silver salmon season, also known as coho salmon. These large shiny beauties are very “bitey” and “fighty” and fun to catch on both the saltwater and freshwater.
Chef Debbi has really been outdoing herself lately. We are proud to offer fine dining in the wilderness! Last night was a crab cocktail appetizer with cucumbers and tomatoes and for dinner…Surf & Turf! Crab is such a versatile treat with so many delicious ways to eat.
