Lodging
Some Alaska Lodges are in remote
locations and operate off a
generator. However, at Larsen Bay
Lodge we have electricity! We are
located on the outskirts of a remote
village of approximately 70 residents
adjoining a 2 million acre refuge -
but there is a hydroelectric plant
supplying electricity! So that
means you don’t have to listen to a
generator and then use a flashlight
after they turn the generator off
for the night. Instead you can fish
or hunt all day, come home, take a
hot shower, if necessary wash and
dry wet clothes, watch Sports Center
after dinner, or plug in your video
camera and watch highlights of your
day afield! In the morning if you
like, you can watch CNN or the
Weather Channel before heading of
for another day of adventure. You
can call home any time you like.
Larsen Bay Lodge offers the best of
both worlds! You can have
your cake and eat it too!
Our deluxe beachfront accommodations
include 2 lodges and 2 private
cabins. We are located on the beach
so many of our rooms have incredible
bay views. The main lodge has a
large dining area with a beautiful
stone fireplace. Social areas are
equipped with satellite TV, card
table and pool table. Suites and
cabins have queen size beds, private
bathrooms and decks. New for 2006
is a Laser Shot hunting simulator!
Prepare to be pampered!
Food
The food service we offer is
exquisite. All meals are provided.
We serve a large breakfast, and
lunches are either cooked on the
shore by the guide, or are prepared
in our kitchen and packed to go!
The chef features new entrees
daily. The menu includes a variety
of seafood and meats. Our abundant
and varied desserts will satisfy any
sweet tooth!
Shore Lunches are a real treat. As
you ply the river for acrobatic
hard-fighting salmon you will notice
the smell of smoke wafting in the
breeze. Depending on how close you
are to the cook fire, you may next
hear a faint sizzle and later pick
up on the scent of potatoes frying.
You begin to salivate and then a
salmon almost snatches the rod from
your hand and brings you back to the
task at hand!
After you land your fish, you look
anxiously back at the swirl of smoke
from the cook fire. You can now
smell the fresh salmon that you
caught earlier that morning cooking
and you vacillate between making
another cast or laying down your rod
and feeling the warmth of the fire
and inhaling the rich aroma of a hot
lunch. Uncontrollably you drift
toward the fire and discover your
fishing partners already there!
There is nothing much better than a
well-earned shore lunch!
…Well there may be something
better. How about all-you-can-eat
fresh steamed snow crabs from
your crab pot? We can arrange
for you to obtain a permit for a
crab pot we will set together. The
crab pot is placed in about 300’ of
water and the crabs couldn’t be any
fresher. We steam them the same day
will pull the pot. Served with
drawn butter, the crab melts in your
mouth. But be warned! Once
you have had fresh steamed crabs,
you may never want to eat them in a
restaurant again!
These are just a few highlights of
the delightful meals you will enjoy
when you come to Larsen Bay Lodge!
