Hunting
Questions |
| |
| When is the best time for deer hunting? |
The season opens in August, but the deer are high in the
mountains which are covered in dense lush green foliage making it difficult
to see the deer, and difficult to walk and climb. Occasionally you catch
one down low or one the beach in August. In September the frost knocks down
some of the brush and the deer are easier to find. By October the snow at
higher elevations starts to ring the deer down and closer to the water where
they feed at low tide on kelp. By November and the first two weeks of
December snow brings the deer down in large numbers to the coastal beaches
and they are easy to spot against the white backdrop of snow.
|
| When is the best time to duck hunt? |
The duck season usually opens about
October 8th.
Early in the season there are more puddle ducks. But there is usually good
sea duck hunting throughout the entire duck season. The primary species are
harlequin, barrows goldeneye, scoters and old squaw.
